The IT Project Manager is responsible for leading, overseeing, and ensuring the successful delivery and management of multiple concurrent IT projects. This includes defining project scope, goals, and deliverables, managing resources, and coordinating efforts of team members, contractors, and consultants to achieve project objectives within scope, time, and budget constraints.
The IT Project Manager implements project management methodologies and tools, performs risk assessments, and ensures that project goals align with organizational objectives. The role requires collaboration with stakeholders, effective communication, and leadership to foster teamwork, resolve conflicts, and deliver business value.
The IT Project Manager monitors compliance with project governance standards, including documentation, reporting, and change management processes. They are responsible for post-project reviews, identifying lessons learned, and sharing best practices. This position requires a strong understanding of project management methodologies (e.g., PMI, Agile, etc.) and technical knowledge to manage IT systems and solutions effectively.
Responsible for compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, industry standards, corporate policies, guidelines, and procedures, including but not limited to, RUS, OSHA, SOX, NERC, FERC, and ITS requirements. Promotes an environment of compliance and continuous improvement to meet the Corporation's goals and objectives.
Job Duties:
- Project Planning and Execution: Define project scope, goals, and deliverables. Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and budgets. Track project milestones and deliverables. Ensure alignment with business objectives. Perform risk assessments and implement mitigation plans.
- Team Leadership and Communication: Provide leadership and motivation to project team members. Foster teamwork, resolve conflicts, and maintain effective communication with stakeholders. Facilitate meetings and prepare reports. Implement a project communication plan.
- Budget and Resource Management: Develop project budgets and track costs. Manage resource allocation, including personnel and contractors. Ensure efficient use of resources and adjust plans as necessary.
- Quality and Change Control: Ensure adherence to project management methodologies and organizational standards. Manage changes in project scope, goals, and deliverables. Conduct post-project reviews and identify lessons learned. Ensure project documentation is complete and compliant with governance standards.
- Stakeholder Collaboration and Reporting: Build and manage relationships with stakeholders. Prepare and deliver progress reports, presentations, and recommendations. Ensure projects support strategic and operational goals. Maintain project documentation and compliance with reporting requirements.
Required Qualifications:
Education: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, Engineering, Science, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
IT Project Manager III
- Experience: Minimum of 4 years of project management experience involving IT systems, methodologies, and tools.
- Equivalent Experience: Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience may also be considered.
- Responsibility: Manages small to medium-sized IT projects independently. Coordinates teams and resources to ensure project success. Implements governance standards and tracks project compliance.
IT Project Manager IV
- Experience: Minimum of 6 years of project management experience involving IT systems, methodologies, and tools
- Equivalent Experience: Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience may also be considered.
- Responsibility: Leads medium to large-sized IT projects. Collaborates with stakeholders to ensure alignment with business goals. Provides leadership in risk management, change control, and compliance with project documentation and governance standards.
Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations:
- Relevant certifications are a plus:
- (Strongly Desired) Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Agile certifications (e.g., Certified ScrumMaster, SAFe Agilist).
- ITIL Foundation certification.
- Advanced certifications in project management methodologies (e.g., PRINCE2 Practitioner).
Specialized Skills:
- Project Management Tools:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Primavera, or other project management tools.
- Familiarity with Agile tools (e.g., Jira, Trello, Rally).
- Technical Knowledge:
