Build the Systems That Power Data-Driven Operations
Georgia System Operations Corporation (GSOC) is seeking a Developer, Data Systems to design, develop, and support critical applications that enable data-driven decision-making across the organization.
This role sits at the core of GSOC's data systems environment, developing and enhancing applications that support operational processes, analytics, and system integrations. You will work across the full software development lifecycle-partnering with stakeholders to translate business needs into scalable, secure, and high-performing solutions. This opportunity is ideal for a developer who enjoys solving complex problems, building integrated systems, and contributing to the continuous evolution of enterprise data platforms supporting critical infrastructure.
Candidates with deeper experience, advanced technical expertise, and demonstrated leadership or architecture capabilities may be considered for higher-level classifications (Developer IV).
What You'll Do
As a Developer, Data Systems, you will play a key role in developing and maintaining applications that support GSOC's business and operational functions.
You will:
- Design, develop, test, and maintain new and existing software applications (cloud and/or on-premise)
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle including requirements analysis, design, development, testing, and deployment
- Translate business requirements into technical specifications and scalable application solutions
- Develop web applications, client-server solutions, and backend processing for data manipulation using approved platforms (.NET, SQL Server, Lodestar)
- Support, enhance, and maintain existing systems and applications used by the Data Systems team
- Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve application issues through debugging and code review processes
- Collaborate with stakeholders to refine requirements, prototype solutions, and ensure applications meet user needs
- Develop integrations between custom and commercial applications to improve efficiency and data flow
- Create and maintain technical documentation, user documentation, and system specifications
At advanced levels, this role may also:
- Lead the design and architecture of complex applications and enterprise solutions
- Establish development standards and best practices aligned to security and compliance requirements
- Serve as a technical escalation point for complex system issues
- Mentor and guide junior developers, supporting knowledge sharing and team development
- Lead large-scale development initiatives and cross-functional projects
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate complex technical challenges
- Experience developing applications using technologies such as C#, PowerShell, SQL, JavaScript, XML, JSON, and HTML
- Experience working with relational databases (e.g., SQL Server) and source control tools (e.g., Git)
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects while collaborating with cross-functional teams
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, including translating technical concepts for business stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
Technical & Platform Experience and Certifications
- Experience with Microsoft Power Platform tools
- Familiarity with cloud platforms and Azure-based development environments
- Experience developing integrations and APIs across enterprise systems
- Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900) or Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104)
Leveling Overview
- Developer III – Experienced contributor; leads development activities, supports production systems, and mentors junior team members while contributing to design discussions
- Developer IV – Advanced contributor and technical expert; leads architecture, drives standards, manages complex initiatives, and serves as an escalation point
