The role of Project Manager requires an experienced project manager who can mobilize, plan, execute, and finalize projects according to prescribed methodologies, on time and within budget, employing experience to resolve project demands. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants, with assistance as needed, in order to deliver projects according to plan. The Project Manager supports the project's objectives and oversees change and quality control throughout the project's life cycle. The Project Manager is also responsible for assisting the Projects Office with oversight of project planning and projection execution methodologies while performing the necessary project documentation requirements for all projects.
Job Duties:
- Communication:
- Define project success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout project life cycle.
- Determine the frequency and content of status reports from the project team, analyze results, and troubleshoot problem areas. Run effective status meetings.
- Develop and maintain relevant project communications and related documentation, including monthly status reports.
- Conduct effective and ongoing communication with project team members, stakeholders, and management; tailored to meet specific project needs.
- Project Management:
- Consistently and independently produce results projects completed within scope, on time, and on budget, operating with almost full autonomy, reporting actions taken to management.
- Lead the process to define project scope, goals and deliverables that support corporate business goals and drivers.
- Manage, develop and track full-scale project plans, milestones and associated deliverables on a wide range of concurrent projects while following established project methodologies and using GSOC PMO tools. Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path.
- Track project milestones and costs related to capital budget and any project-related third-party agreements with outside vendors or consultants
- Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans. Manage the integration of project change with GSOC and department's change process.
- Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals. Work with project owners to delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel.
- Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team. Maintain an issues log.
- Develop and implement framework for tracking project activities. Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations. Maintain the document management system repository for project Project Server
- Support monthly budget projections by providing input to management and recommend subsequent budget changes where necessary for project.
- Conduct post-project reviews to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements. Share lessons learned with team members, management, and all project managers.
- Leadership
- When required, support the functional manager in negotiating with other department managers to acquire required personnel from within the company.
- Monitor monthly adherence requirements for all approved System Operations projects per the GSOC PMO Lifecycle. Take corrective action with other project managers as needed. These include project charters, executive summaries, functional business requirements, technical design specifications, testing documentation, request for change, and post-project implementation review

- Create and maintain "the team", and foster "teamwork."
- Mentor, motivate, and supervise project team members and contractors, influencing them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.
Required Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Project Management or related field.
Experience:
- Project Manager: Minimum of 3 years direct work experience in a project management or equivalent capacity, including basic aspects of process development and execution.
- Senior Project Manager: Minimum of 6 years direct work experience in a project management.
- Principal Project Manager: Minimum of 9 years direct work experience in a project management capacity, including all aspects of process development and execution.
Equivalent Experience:
- Project Manager: A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in technical team leadership and project management utilizing a proven methodology as well as the experience mentioned above.
- Senior Project Manager: A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in technical team leadership and project management utilizing a proven methodology, as well as the abovementioned experience.
- Principal Project Manager: A minimum of 11 years of progressive experience in technical team leadership and project management utilizing a proven methodology, as well as the abovementioned experience.
Specialized Skills: Strong customer service skills. Ability to manage and plan multiple project tasks concurrently using Microsoft Project or some other project management tool. Knowledge of electric utility industry is a plus.
License and Certifications: PMP desired.
