Description

Data Analytics professional with expertise in Microsoft Power BI and other visualization tools to transform complex data into actionable insights. As an individual contributor, imbedded in the business, this role collaborates with business stakeholders, application and data subject matter experts, data engineers, and visualization tool users. Daily engagement and collaboration will include gathering business requirements and designing interactive dashboards as well as reporting to support data driven business solutions and decision making. A successful contributor in this role will be skilled at project/relationship management, data translation/facilitation, bridging the technical gap between data engineers, data source subject matter experts, and business stakeholders. Expertise in Microsoft Power BI, data analysis skills as well as innovative thinking must be combined with effective communication across levels of the organization while gaining buy in for innovation using information.

Job Duties:

  • Data Requirements, Visualization, Analysis, and Innovation.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to understand their business needs and underlying data requirements to translate them into business solutions.
  • Apply data visualization techniques to present complex data in clear and compelling formats.
  • Develop business cases outlining data sources. Work with source subject matter experts to identify data locations and transformations.
  • Facilitate and support data analysis activities including cleansing and aggregation and transformation to promote data accuracy and reliability.
  • Data Requirements Translation and Collaboration with Data Engineer.
  • Collaborate with data engineers to ensure data quality and integrity.
  • Conduct data validation and verification activities to identify and resolve data inconsistencies and discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with data engineers to ensure data sources are integrated effectively into solutions.
  • Data Quality and Governance.
  • Implement and support data governance principles and adhere to data privacy policies in data analysis and reporting activities.
  • Collaborate with data engineers to define data quality and metrics to implement data profiling and monitoring processes.
  • Data Insights, Reporting, and Solutions.
  • Design and develop interactive solutions dashboards, reports, and visualizations utilizing Microsoft Power BI and other tools. Utilize features such as drill-down, filtering, and parameterization to enhance users experience and enable self-service analytics.
  • Analyze data trends and patterns to identify meaningful insights and actionable recommendations.
  • Present data findings and insights to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner enabling them to understand complex information easily.
  • Documentation and Training.
  • Document data analysis methodologies, assumptions and conclusions for transparency, reproducibility, and knowledge sharing.
  • Assist in training and supporting business users in utilizing Microsoft Power BI and other visualization tools.

Required Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Business Analytics, or a related field.

Experience: 5+ years of experience as a data analyst, or a similar role/experience, with expertise in Microsoft Power BI and other visualization tools.

Equivalent Experience: 3+ years of the above-described experience and Master's level degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Business Analytics, or a related field.

Specialized Skills:

  • Proficiency in building interactive dashboards, reports, and visualizations.
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to transform complex data into meaningful insights and actionable recommendations.
  • Knowledge of SQL and experience in querying and manipulating data from relational databases.
  • Familiarity with data modeling concepts and the ability to understand and work with different data structures.
  • Excellent knowledge of data visualization best practices, design principles and effective storytelling techniques.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to translate business requirements into impactful visualizations.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to convey complex data findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with data preparation and transformation tools e.g., Power Query, DAX is a plus.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau is a plus.

Licenses, Certifications, and/or Registrations: Must obtain and maintain Bulk Electric System Cyber Authorized Status as defined in GSOC's CIP Cyber Security Policy 301 and NERC Reliability Standard CIP 004 - Personnel Risk Assessment.
